You need a good videocard.

The 8600 GTS is sub-par (garbage),
it has a 128bit bus which is old school.

You will need this card as a min. -->

Geforce 8800 GTS 320 MB version.

like this one:
PNY VCG88GTS32XPB GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported HDCP Video Card - Retail

Flight Sim X would not run nicely on any computing device. It has such severe gadget standards which you will get dragging framerates no remember what hardware you have. Play the Janes line of flight sims particularly.

First, call Bill Gates..

hehe

FlightSimX is poorly written. It does not utilize the hardware very well. (Dual core support is in need of improvement)

Quad core won't do you any better (the software is not written to utilize it)

You are not the first one to experience poor frame rates.

...just another microslop issue to deal with. Part of the purchase agreement.

Check your drivers, especially the hard drive's DMA settings.
