Believing is one thing and leaning heavily on it quite another. I just believe in it but become oblivious of it when performing duties of life.

I believe that we make our own way in life. Every decision we make influences our destiny. Coincidence plays a large part in life a matter of two things happening at the same time in which you only have control over the one. What is fate? I mean OK some people believe that we all have a set path to walk in life and this is set out for us from the day we are born, but how can this be true. So we go through school then we have the decision to go on to college and university so is our decision already made for this? Unlikely we make that decision and that in turn influences out life where it goes from there, who we meet, what qualifications we receive and what kind of employment we enter into after graduation. Yet even this changes how we live from day to day a well paid job means a good life and no scraping to keep your head above water. So decisions we make at an early stage in our life sets our destiny out in front of us which may change at any point as destiny is always changing it is never set for life, yes coincidence plays a large part in our destiny. I do however believe in a higher power, energy and the wheel of life so we encounter past lives connections, maybe sometimes that is cross wired as fate !!!!

Its a bit of both, fate throws us the choices should i turn left or right, we still have to make the choice.
Sometimes we let opportunity pass us by but then it proves in the long run to be a better choice.
Sometimes bad things happen that change us and later we look back and think if that hadn't of happened i wouldn't be where i am today, or be the person that i am now.

My life has been to interesting and varied for it to be just my own choices, I'm sure i have a guardian angel keeping me safe helping me out

Everything in life and in death are predestined . And we make ( what appears to be) our own choices! Seemingly contradictory but , in actual fact, not.
A man takes a decision to cancel his flight to Chicago on the 11th sept and goes home. Another fellow , who desperately wanted to reach Chicago soon, makes his choice of this particular flight. Both are choices and both end up as destined.

The reason for this confusion is our inability to predict what will happen. This is LATER , attributed to the fate factor

It is a good question. It goes to the heart of the mystery of our existence.

I do believe that we make our own choices. At the basic fundamental level, as much as I can make out from reading, reality is is a froth on top of a deep ocean of dark energy or zero-point energy. Nothing is for certain at that level and I believe that this is the level where creativity and original thought comes from. Probably all thought operates at this quantum level. Brains are probably like radio receivers which have evolved to tap into this sea of mind-stuff.

It is interesting that even back close to the time of the big bang, when the universe was very simple, somewhere implicit in its structure were beings like us, consciousness, self awareness etc.

I don't believe in fate because it would make an actress of me - I would only follow the instrucutions pointed in the script and my life would be a movie where I'm supposed to assume a role I didn't choose. Besides,it's not proven - in any way - that life has a purpose or an a priori definition. Of course your life is not totally what you would like it to be because there are external factors that always interfere, whether you like it or not. But,in what depends on you,it's your life, your way.

I personally believe in both fate, and independance. I think that your life is planned out almost like a rough draft, and even though most of it is planned out, you stil influence most of it, because with every rough draft, there are several final drafts. In other words, There are things that you are in control of, and it's not a set map, but a few directions....an end point, and a beginning point, and it's your responsibility to find your way to the end point, while maintaining happiness.

Ah... the number of times i've heard that question...

So, my answer. Yes, I believe such a thing exists, but that it has been conceived as a deceptive tool, used to stumble people into using it as a justification of purpose or intent.

For believers, they are bound by the credence that mortal entities are not predestined, but the word of God is.
