Ever since I've been pregnant I've gotten the worst toothaches ever and my gums bleed like crazy... I can't bite into an apple without it hurting. I won't be covered by dental insurance for about 15 more days so I need to tough this out.

Whats safe to take? I've been trying to go all natural and save the orajel and tylonal for the really bad days. But I also came down with a cold and simply need medication. I don't feel like a good mother to my unborn by taking tylonal every few hours and putting orajel in my mouth... but I can't take all the pain and now I have an unbearable headache.

Someone help me please...

maybe go in talk to doctor. maybe he will prescribe something safe for baby to help with the pain for the next week or so until insurance kicks in. some dentists are very reasonable about these situations.

When I was 17 weeks pregnant I developed an abcess tooth. I lost 4lbs that week because everything I tried to eat hurt. The letter I received from ob listed Tylenol 3 (w/ codine) as acceptable. The dentist prescribed penicillin and rinsing with salt water. The dentist seemed more keen on the salt water rinse than anything else. It started feeling better within 24 hours and hasn't returned. I still rinse with salt water, hoping to keep it a bay until after the baby is born.

You aren't being a bad mum at all, in fact you are being a caring, considerate one or you wouldn't even be asking this question.
Gum problems like those you mention can last right through a pregnancy and the only way to alleviate it is by rinsing one's mouth in a dilution of salt water after brushing the teeth gently with a soft toothbrush.
Try some paracetamol for your headache, inhale some hot steam for your cold and rub your chest with Vicks. Use Saline nose drops. Eat a lot of oranges and drink lots of fluids. Get as much rest as you can.

You're going to have to spend some money on dental care. 1) you may have an infection which can harm the baby
2) the chemicals you're taking are definitely dangerous to you and the baby.
3) make the investment, even if you have to borrow the money and see a dentist right away.

You really need to get to a doctor now! Bleeding gums, etc,. signal something isn' t right and you need to get this treated before it affects the baby.
