partly yes, partly no. the philippines used to be very feudal and patriarchial in terms of family matters but has changed a bit particulalry in the involvement of women in politics and also in bringing food to our tables, a fact that couldn't be disregarded.

Having a woman on the top position in the land would tell you that men and women are equal in the Philippines.

Yes and has been practised a long time ago. There may be a few exceptions but altogether, Filipino men have accepted the fact that women are at par with them, sometimes are even better than them.

I agree with Sir Bopols. About some being more equal than others.

And the more equal weight goes to the women. That's why, in some way, I'm a bit glad I'm here in Riyadh, where it is still a man's world!

There have been gains but generally, women still have a lower status than men. As long as women's reproductive rights are not recognised, there will be no real equality.

yes of course but we cannot defy the fact that women get pregnant and some companies do not accept pregnant women or women with kids cz it may require them more effort and time. I heard it from somebody working in Jollibee.

Yes. In fact some people are more equal than others. I heard of a famous personality from Cebu who is said to be half-Filipino and half-Filipina.

in some parts of business, the glass ceiling is still there. =(

not good: I was not accepted in one Jap firm as an engr because I was a girl and the work requires a man (haller, i didn't take this course if i can't do it!) -- even if im qualified. I want to cry that time =(

pretty much. my sister worked as an engineer for a company & also had to wear a hard hat, safety shoes, & safety goggles. total equality.
