I take it that you have an old type mouse with a ball in it. If so, unplug it from your computer, get a small screwdriver, take the screws out of the bottom. After you have it apart, wash the ball in a solution of soapy water, rinse and dry. Then get a Q-TIP and rubbing alcohol. Dip the Q-TIP in the alcohol to clean the inside of the mouse case. Let air dry. Put mouse back together and it should work like new again with very minimal expense. This would be a lot cheaper than buying a new mouse.

Sounds like the micro switch under the left mouse button has failed (it is used much more than the right button!). This is a great excuse to treat yourself to a new optical mouse. Get the best you can afford because there is nothing as frustrating as a malfunctioning mouse (except, possibly, a dead mouse).

You have to unscrew the bottom and take the fluff off the wheels
with a tweezers use a cotton bud soaked in nail varnish remover but not too much to loosen the fluff. and then just pick it off. Result Rapid.

Take the base off and give it a clean. Check the roller bits where the ball moves too. That should help.
You could get a marble track ball mouse, they are pretty good.

Open up administration panel (interior the commencing up menu) you could see Mouse or Pointing contraptions, open that ans regulate your sensitivity. If this fails to clean up the priority. you have got a bad turn on the mouse or something (dirt, hair, cracker crumbs...etc.) could be inflicting it to double click. in case you have yet another mouse attempt that first and if it duplicates the priority then it is programing concern. additionally with instant it must be the battery going undesirable. good success i desire this facilitates.

I would just buy a new one. They are rather cheap for a basic roller ball mouse. You can usually find an optical one for a reasonable price too.

Mice can be very cheap and considering the small price and what we expect out of them, they do very well. Time to send it to mouse heaven and buy a new one.

It needs to be retired. Buy a roller ball like the Kensington Orbit, these are mush better , especially if you have a crowded desk like mine.
