who comment on bad spelling on here? Do you ever stop to consider that there may be another reason for it, other than just laziness? Do you also ever consider how such comments can hurt the people they are directed towards?
One of my contacts has dyslexia, he constantly has the p*ss taken out of his spelling (although he at least makes the effort to spell phonetically), and is told to use the spell checker, however because of dyslexia, this is of absolutely no use to him. Last night he posted a question on here because he was worried and upset, and needed advice/comfort. The majority of those who answered commented on his bad spelling, and some were extremely rude about it. This made him feel so much worse than he already did.
If you can't understand a question due to bad spelling, then why not just ignore it, and move on to another?

They make me sick. Nobody said it was a spelling competition. I can't stand them people who don't answer the question and just want to comment on others spelling mistakes. And most of the time they can understand the question, they just want to be an awkward know-it-all.Some times the spell checker does not work, and I've had a case where a word was the correct spelling either way, but the amount of 'know-it-all's ' I got responding was pathetic. Good question, i wish those guilty would think twice.

I would never comment on someones spelling. I didn't go to school much when I was younger so my spelling and punctuation are sometimes really bad. Tell your friend not to let comments by some ignorant people put him off comming on here. Someone once said to me.......Those that matter dont mind and those that mind don't matter. and I think it's very true. I won't use the spell checker on this answer and if my bad spelling bothers anybody then thats just tough .

I loath poor English. It detracts from the point being made and, if through laziness, is an insult to the reader. There is however a huge difference between a bit of fun like this site, and a letter, or paper which will alter the lives of many people. Most people are doing their best and many are very young. Good English is a skill that takes time to master; so if I can understand the point, I ignore the mistakes and if I don't get the point, like you, I move on. Petty rudeness has no place on a site like this.

I don't care about bad spelling, if it makes sense then there's no need to comment about it because you understand it anyway. If you can understand it then what's the problem?
The only things I can't stand are deliberate spelling mistakes such as 'alot', 'aswell' and 'abit'. This is detrimental to the world's existence and are the only 3 words in this answer that set off the spell-checker.

This is a question i posted on here a few weeks ago. I also feel the same as you and that is why i asked it. I also had a friend with dyslexia and it ruled her life in everything that she did. For example walking into a shop to buy a packet of f*gs and then asking me if she'll get any change back so that she didn't look daft walking off without her change.

I do hope many people start to change their minds on correcting peoples spelling mistakes and spare a thought to the person that posted it!
Your friend had alot of courage to ask a question on here considering, it's certainly something my friend wouldn't find the courage to do so tell him well done from me..

I think that as long as ye get the main idea of the question, there is nae need tae pull people up fur the spelling. I huv hud folk gie me a hard time cos I try tae answer in ma native tongue (Scottish). I wid never get on somebody's case fur odd spelling. As ye already said, some folk urrnae able tae dae everything that most folk can. It wid be an insult tae moan aboot spelling, ye might put the wee asker aff, and they might gie up posting questions. That wid be oor loss!!!!

You're right, before I has Internet at home I came on answers through my phone Internet and did not have much space to write so I'd shorten my words and get negative comments constantly which was really annoying! Why people have to answer questions just to be mean is beyond me what can they possibly get out of it. They are just horrible bullies!! I hope you're friend isn't feeling too bad some people are just idiots who don't think about their consequences!! xx

Not being to good myself at spelling I don't mind any bad spelling as long as I can understand the meaning of the question the thing I don't like is the text spelling (gr8 for one)

I am guilty of that in the past - but since when I misspelled a question and everyone just inferred the meaning and answered without comment on the mistake- I have taken their lead and become a better person :D

i do comment on spelling but not the obvious typos.. and im never rude when i do...
i am however rude at those people who use shortcuts for the words just because they are too lazy to type the whole word in here... and you can always differentiate these from those who cant spell the word right
