We have been working on the family tree for many years now. We will hit roadblocks and then somehow work our way around it. The furthest back we have gotten is about 1000AD on my Maternal Grandfathers side. There are some characters in my family tree. Vikings (we are unsure of what country they originated from but we think Norway), Scotland, Wales, France, Ireland and several Native American tribes -- Iroquois and Lakota. I find family history fun.....I do not look for "royalty", but rather the interesting characters that are fun to wonder about.
Peace.

I know quite a lot, actually. I know that my ancestors were from England, Scotland, France, Germany. I know that I am in direct line of King Arthur (yes, he was real), Duncan King of Scots, Lady Godiva and many others of the Royal British line. Too bad we don't have their money. 80) Since we hooked up with royalty, we are able to have that line traced all the way back to Adam. It's really cool.
More recently, I know that every female on my maternal grandmother's side who has lived past 50 died of a stroke. I know we are fifth generation Texan by way of Tennessee. I know my relatives were plantation owners before the Civil War and, yes, they owned slaves. I know I have a great-great grandmother who rolled over on her sleeping baby in the middle of the night and suffocated him. She was never the same afterward and eventually drowned herself.
I love genealogy and though I haven't done it in many years, I would like to get back into it someday and learn more about the people that made me who I am.
Thanks for the great question.

My ancestors were African, Spanish and Native Americans. Aside from slaves and tribes, I know very little about them.

I'm working on our family tree - it's so fun and interesting.
My family is German and English on both sides. I learned one of my mother's great grandfathers was married to one of my father's great grandmothers. Both families intermarried twice - 140 years and 2 continents apart.
