Very, very rarely. If it's a musical, sometimes the members of the orchestra will be compensated. The rest of the people involved--actors, directors, lighting & sound, tech designers, choreographers, etc.--volunteer their time with the understanding that they will not be paid. Most do it for the experience or the love of the theatre.
The profits from the show (if there are any) go right back into the company to fund show budgets and venue expenses. If a group has its own building, they need to pay for maintenance and equipment. If they rent the space, they need to cover rentals and all the expenses that incurred (damages, cleaning, and the like). Like most small non-profit groups, very few of the community theatres I work with have a surplus of money.

As so many of the other answers have said, that's why they are called amateur, they don't get paid.
I am an aspiring playwright and I have got involved in a project where I will be acting on stage. Let me assure you that good writing and good acting is it's own reward. Some people do enjoy there amateur pursuits.

some amateur groups share some of the profit with the players. In most groups there is no profit and nothing to share.

No that's why they are called amateurs and any proceeds from the play will be used to run the company.

Well I've never been paid, but that doesn't mean it's impossible, it would depend on the company.
