EDC stands for Estimated Date of Confinement. My old employer has this on all their forms for maternity leave and is such an arcaic term these days. He's just giving you a new due date (now known more as EDD - estimated due date). You possible had a scan?? that suggested a new due date. If you are 100% positive of your last menstrual period I would insist on an explanation as to why they are moving it back by 9 days as this could be the difference between delivering naturally or not. (you may just be having a smaller baby which is really due on the 11th not 20th)
(my bestfriend had this done with her first and it didn't end entirely well because they went by a much later date when she was clearly due earlier). (oh and btw she is now preggo with number two and original due date of jan 11 but now moved up to jan 1st, lucky for her I guess!)
best of luck

Not all babies are same. They are different in their growth. Yesterday i had been to the doc. and there i asked her the same question. Actually my expected date of delivery is 8th Feb 2008. But the untrasound says 3rd Feb. When asked she said here after we will go by the scan date and not the expected date of delivery as the growth of the baby varies as the months pass by.
So dont worry... the doc knows whats best for you and when your baby will be ready to come out and see this world. EDC is your due date i guess. It must be the medical term.
Wishing you a wonderful pregnancy. May you have a smooth, safe and peaceful delivery :-)

Estimated date of Confinement
Doesn't that sound lovely. It means he is estimating your due date as that. Your baby is no longer confined once it is delivered. Old terminology...there is a lot of it in medicine. Due dates are relative, don't worry too much about it. More than likely, the previous used the last day of your period and he used a more accurate method.

That is your new due date, you could just be farther along than you thought in the begining. The same happened to me but I was not as far along as I thought they moved my due date back.
