I know what you are experiencing, my printer wont save my settings either, I've tried it all and think its a windows problem now. No matter what I do, my changes are discarded and it reverts to it's default settings, not the ones I set as default. I have an HP deskjet 932c. I have another hp all in one unit that does the same thing, but I rarely use it.

When you click to print, go into the printers properties and look for the colors option. Choose grayscale and you will be good to go.

If this does not work, call your printer manufacture help desk and ask how.

How can we even try to answer your question without knowing the Make and Model # of your printer????

FIRST: Go to the manufacturer's website and read the FAQ's.

Then, re-post with specifics if you need more help.
