This saying basically means by sharing it, you've lightened the burden of weight upon your shoulders that the problem carries and yes that is almost always true especialy for younger people who are trying to find their way. Be careful however where you seek counsel.

I do believe it's very uplifting to unload your burdens when you have someone who truly cares about you and has your well-being in mind. (By the way most people would actually refer to this as FRIENDSHIP)

I've often regretted trusting in people not worthy so sometimes I just carry the load and just try to lighten it by focussing my life on other happier aspects.

No, you take on the amount of responsiblity to any promblem that you choose to take. Usually the person with the most vested interest will take on the most responsiblity. Then there are the people who try to carry the world on their shoulders... and still are those who seem to never take responsibility for anything and want everyone else to fix their problem. These people get extremely personal and angry when you let them fall due to their own lack of inaction. They will almost always blame someone else.

In my personal opinion, no it's not halved if it's shared, cause it's still there and then you have another person/ more people worrying about it then before.

No because one could worry more about it than the other. It could mean more to one and not the other.
