no wonder Hollywood portrays the ideal woman as a thin twig...leading girls to anorexia when even overweight women cannot be hired for overweight woman roles..

How many movies lately have had men dressed up as women, playing women. It was funny in junior high drama class but I've grown out of that sort of humour long ago.

as a results of fact Travolta is an actor and he liked the placement. What approximately each and all of the actors who've performed murderers in video clips? have you ever reported as out somebody like Anthony Hopkins for enjoying a cannibalistic serial killer? that is hypocritical to criticize an actor for taking a gay place or an opposite gender place yet no longer say something approximately actors who portray liars, cheaters, killers, etc. i'm in no way equating homosexuality (which i do no longer think of is "incorrect") with any of those different issues yet whilst one is going to take some style of sanctimonious ethical place then you certainly would desire to play even-surpassed.

Nah, it's Charlize Theron uglied up to play Aileen Wuornos. It's young women acting opposite men old enough to be their fathers. It's overweight women essentially unheard of in film, while overweight men get a pass.
Besides, the charm of "Hairspray" is that a man plays Edna Turnblad.

That is the whole idea of Hairspray.; Divine played the mother in the original.. so Travolta plays the newer one.

Travolta is funny, he's a personality already known to us, do you think we would go see the movie if the woman was fat, and we didn't know her.?
God bless.

No it's not. For the show Hairspray, the main character has always been a guy playing a woman.

How is it discrimination?
Besides. John Travolta is a king when it came to musicals, so it seemed only logical.
Being a woman, I find nothing wrong with it, and if I were an overweight woman, I still wouldn't care.
It's just a movie. Jesus christ.

No, it would have been discrimination if he wasn't considered for the part at all.
