Tell him to stop feeding them, then you wont get so many. Make sure you don't leave any food scraps out at night and keep areas prone to dampness as clean and dry as possible. Killing them with salt IS cruel, regardless of how simple the sentience of a slug may be they can still feel pain. If you have to dispose of them, the method of letting them fall into tins filled with beer or similar mentioned above is certainly more humane.

If your BF thinks that his pets are more important than you and the cleanliness of your home, it's time to reconsider him.
Perhaps it is cruel. But you don't need slugs all over your house. If your BF wants to feed the slugs, he can do it outside- where the slugs belong anyway. Also keep in mind that slugs eat stuff in the garden!

the persons who do that are purely being sadistic. They savour seeing others in ache - even a slug. They probable savour seeing u disillusioned too. There are "humane" the right thank you to end the lives of creatures - as u on occasion could do like for nutrition or for some scientific researches. yet there is no could lengthen the discomfort and ache of loss of life. i don't think of u are being over-soft. that's good to make ur stand sparkling. :)

Yes. It is cruel, especially as there are alternatives. Slugs get a light shock if they cross copper, so you could put a copper strip on the ground near your door and they wouldn't cross it. Rough terrain is also a deterrent, so putting gravel in the area near your door might help.
And if he wants to feed them, make him feed them in one area, or ignore it. He might be just trying to rile you.
It would be different if they were eating your rare hostas, but with him putting out bait, it's cruel to punishing their instincts. You might also try adding a bird feeder to attract more birds to eat them, (circle of life). And eliminating damp shady areas to make the area less attactive.

It is my belief that it is cruel to kill any living thing unless it can cause you harm, like a brown recluse spider or a black widow spider in your home. What some people consider "yucky" is to another person an amazing thing.

its personle opiunon really. depends if you care enough about a creature. Me myslef. i dont think i could bucuase it the equivalent of dipping your body in acid. I would just let them go. But if you are inclined to remove the little pests then do so, but my ask a vet or somone at a pet store or somthing for ways to keep them away. Their has to be a repelent somwhere. try google or somthing maybe....good luck with your little friends lol JK

You could put a shallow dish recessed in soil & fill it with beer. The slugs are attracted to the malt smell, drink it and OD on beer.
Save your salt for cooking stew, chicken, etc.

You can make them happy when they die. Another way to kill slugs is to take tunafish cans, or about that size and fill them with beer. The little devils climb in it and drown. But at least they go with a smile on their little faces!

You are a cruel *****, too lazy to pick the slug up with an old spatula and toss it into the garden where it can do some good.
