Can X-Ray film beat speed cameras, or is this an urban myth?

I think this is an urban myth, but my friend swears a nurse she knows told her it works and loads of medical type people do it.

The theory is, the speed camera cannot 'see' through undeveloped x-ray film placed over the car number plate.

The number plate is supposedly still visible to the naked eye, however, so if a human cop sees you he or she will not notice anything amiss.

My reason for thinking it is an urban myth is that if it was true, why don't we hear about people doing it? There are lots of people who would be lining up to take advantage of something like this if it was true.

Her argument to that is, how would ordinary people get undeveloped x-ray film, it's only available via medical channels and those folks are used to keeping their mouths shut!

If you have any facts, a web site, an informed opinion or just a good theory ~ please let me know.

Interesting...although only remotely related to your question you can always send your question to snopes.com and find the answers to any urban legends whether they are myth or reality. Pretty cool site to find out alternative info.

Here are three products that will block the camera from taking the photos--it's all about light reflection so if the x-ray film is clear and light-reflective it may very well work.

UNdeveloped film you cannot see thru at all. It is opaque. If it was a blank developed one maybe. But why?

They do make sheets that go over plates so they are only visible from directly in front. But they are frensel lenses, not x-ray film.

the invention Channel coach "Mythbusters" did somewhat on products that are meant to shield your registration code numbers from cameras. not one of the products worked, the digital camera caught the plate each time different than for whilst they used a drag racer that reached two hundred mph. The race automobile replaced into via the section before the digital camera would desire to holiday. anybody silly adequate to force those speeds have greater issues than basically a cost tag.
