Have you ever helped someone out and later found out they were only using you?

Yup. But as long as I help people, I don't care the payback.

In the term of "helping", in the other way round, you are "using" someone resources to help you, so don't be upset for those people who are using you, someday ,they will found themselves loosing their friends because of this behaviour.

Perhaps , I can say : The more people you help, the more your are seeing the smiling face, then you will feel more happy.

Yes, my daughter-in-law tricked me. She told me they were in dire straights and I took out a loan for them. I handed over $10,000 thinking they needed it to save their house from foreclosure. Then she ended up using it to put money down on a van and bought a new television, a dining room set and some other furniture. I was furious. She then told me she found out she didn't need the money after-all for the house but decided they needed it for the other things instead of giving me the money back where I could have paid it back to the loan company instead. I am still not on good terms with her.
