I do have the belief that we come into this place having pre-prepared a list of lessons to learn with the helpful participation of others in a similar state of ignorance and confusion. Having free choice then gives us a range of responses to the circumstances we find ourselves subject to, and we find comfort, faith and strength wherever is valid for each of us.
What is meant is that we get to see those around us as different yet similar in needs and desires. Fear and prejudice colour our perception of each other and limit our choices. If we can help each other learn and see that we're all still learning and be open to change and life's limitless possibilities then we're doing okay.
Someone once said "How do you make God laugh? Tell him your plans!" Whatever you place your faith in, we all have the choice for ourselves, as well as the choice to care about everyone we come into contact with, and the priveledge of having them occasionally care about us.
Cheers and all the best.

Yes I strongly believe in that. For example someone in a car accident. Someone pulls out in front of them. Would they have been in that accident if they left a few seconds earlier or later?

As in everything happens for a reason. Nope, I sure don't. I don't really have an explanation why, I just don't believe it. I suppose it's complicated.
