I believe "most" do. The ones who come to mind who do not deserve it are child abusers, sexual abusers (especially of children) child killers, murderers or torturers.
I worked as a Correctional Officer in a Women's Prison in Indianapolis, for over a year and I treated the women offenders with respect because I felt they were there doing their time and therefore already being punished for their crime(s). I went in there respecting them until they didn't show respect, in return. Then that became a little different story. Even then, I tried to work with the situation, because sometimes these offenders had some serious issues to deal with themselves.

Respect them as a person, not the choices they've made. Everyone has made mistakes, some larger than others, but at the Foot of the Cross we're all the same. We've all been forgiven (if we accept Jesus' forgiveness, that is), so we should respect one another because they're either on the same level of "goodness/badness" that we are, and we shouldn't judge them. (Just as a side note, by saying 'we shouldn't judge them', I mean we shouldn't point the finger. There's a big difference between that and telling them 'what you're doing is wrong' out of love for that person. Does that make sense?)

Yes but the scope is different. In case of a criminal,we should respect his right for his life and ensure a fair trial. If convicted and sentenced with a death penalty,we should respect his right to die in a normal respectable manner.Same goes for his burial.Respect inter alias also means to accept/concede the right of other persons ,irrespective of the their deeds as in more ways than one, it reflects on a combined social character.

Apparently, the people responsible for forming this country that you live in thought so. If you don't like the rule of law, find another country. How about Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran just to name a few. Or how about being someone that was wrongly accused of a crime. And being convicted doesn't guarantee guilt either. Look at all the people who have been released after years of serving time for a crime they didn't commit.
AND THEN ASK THEM ABOUT RESPECT.

In the beginning, everyone deserves the same amount of respect. It is what they do with the cards they are dealt that determines how respectable they eventually become.

Everyone deserves respect, until they lose that right. "Criminals" deserve to be respected as human beings, but not necessarily as individuals.

Well, I am gonna go against the grain... I don't believe in an eye for an eye... I believe Jesus when he said you have heard it said an eye for an eye, now I am telling you if someone slaps you on your cheek turn the other too... He also said pray for your enemies... To prosecute and jail criminals is just, but vengeance belongs to GOD alone...
So I guess you could say they deserve respect with in boundaries... Really key vengeance belongs to God alone...

There's a certain amount of respect everyone should have, and then depending on their actions they can earn more, or lose some. It's up to the actions of the person.
