i do have a budget. so much per person. i have a mental idea of what i would like to get each person but usually don't stick to it. i usually find something on sale that i think they would like better. finding the item on sale usually keeps me well within budget.
i do some of my kids shopping online, especially if it's a hard to find item.

I usually make a list of people that I have to buy for, and I write next to them how much I plan on spending. Then, whenever I'm shopping online, or in the store, or whatever, I can buy whatever I see on a whim, but I have a budget in mind. My biggest problem is buying things for myself!

You should budget yourself but not be afraid to go over a couple dollars here and there. And definitely get things you like but that you know the other person would appreciate and enjoy. And have a list of the people you need to buy gift, happy hunting!
