It isn't impossible. Many women have periods, although much lighter than usual, for several months after conception.

"Can you be pregnant and still get your period?
Expert Answers
Tracey Telles, obstetrician and fertility specialist:
Well, no, you can't get your period once you're pregnant — once your body starts producing the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and your pregnancy is established, your menstrual cycle is interrupted and normal periods stop. But you may have bleeding or spotting during pregnancy that can seem like a period.
Some pregnant women have what's called "implantation bleeding" that can happen around the time their period is due, and they may mistake that bleeding for a period. This spotting may be caused by the fertilized egg burrowing into the blood-rich lining of the uterus, a process that starts just 6 days after fertilization, and it's generally a lot lighter than a typical period — just a day or two of very light spotting.
If you're pregnant and you're not sure when your last period started, this can make establishing a due date difficult for your healthcare provider. If you have any doubts, your provider can feel how big your uterus is with a pelvic examination and estimate how far along you are. In most cases, your provider will also order an ultrasound before the middle of your pregnancy to measure the size of your developing baby and clarify exactly when the baby is due.
Many women who bleed a little bit in early pregnancy deliver without any complications, but bleeding can also be a cause for concern. It may be the first sign of a miscarriage. If so, your symptoms probably will go on to include heavy cramping and bleeding much heavier than a normal period.
Abnormal bleeding can also be a sign of ectopic or tubal pregnancy. If you have sharp pains in your lower abdomen, especially if the pain is only on one side, you should see your practitioner right way to find out if you have an ectopic pregnancy. A tubal pregnancy can be life-threatening, and sometimes the only symptom is bleeding around the time your period is expected. Often, the period may be lighter than usual. Sometimes a home pregnancy test will be negative, and the pregnancy can only be detected by checking blood hCG levels.
If you bleed at all early in your pregnancy, it's best to notify your doctor or midwife to get specific instructions. She may suggest getting a blood test to check your hCG levels or order an ultrasound to evaluate your condition more thoroughly."
Hope this helps

Personally, I'd rather not take any chances. And the chances that I could keep anything alcoholic down anyway are slim. I've had hyperemesis gravidarum two out of three pregnancies. This time it's been the worst, I think. I've had close monitoring of the baby to check her weight gain as a result (everything so far has been fine), but with that added concern, I wouldn't be able to do it.

first of all coming from a registered nurse it is not impossible to have a period while you are pregnant, many women have a period for 9 months straight while they are pregnant, although it is unlikely, due to the fact that when you have your period, you are shedding the inner lining of your uterus, because no combined egg and sperm made it their home that month, which is why you do not typically have a period when you are pregnant because you do not shed the lining of your uterus, because an egg and sperm took up residence their which is in turn a baby! Does that make any sense at all?

It is not impossible..
With most people their period will stop, but not all..
I have a friend who didn't even know that she was prego until she was in labor.. no lie.. it happens.. the best thing is to get a test.. and if you are still unsure.. go to the doctor..
seeing as though you are young.. I would maybe try Planned Parenthood.. they are free for most people and all the information can be kept confidential if you would like that..
.. good luck..
use protection.. it is one of the only ways to stay safe.. (FROM EVERYTHING).. but.. even then.. things still happen..

Hi. Yes you can have periods whilst pregnant but is very uncommon to have. It would be good to visit a womens health centre and they could explain how your body works. And if you are pregnant they could give you advice. Another myth is that you can't get pregnant when you have a period.

The most common cause of bleeding during pregnancy is implantation bleeding, which can be confused with a period. It is possible to continue to ovulate and have periods while pregnant though EXTREMELY RARE.

For the record, It is possible to have a period and be pregnant. It all depends on what time of your cycle you were active. Your period may not be normal, you may start, stop, spot. But it is possible for you to have a period the month you became pregnated.
