Since you say the refrigerator is new, the smell is probably just the gases from the new plastic paneling inside the frig. You did the right thin: clean it with a solution of soap, water and baking soda. Keep a box of baking soda inside the frig to absorb the odors.

Did, however - just did that on Sunday. garbage pick up is Monday. I'm sad to say it was so wasteful. We recycle everything else but I have to make a good effort to use what food we buy before the expiration date.

yea I usually do that on Sunday's because garbage pick up is Monday but I didn't wipe it all out so hopefully this Thursday when I get a day off I'll get it done.
