Your curiosity is deep.... need to think through in order to understand where does courage come from.
I think that courage is complementary to confidence rather than a derivative or result of confidence...... It is precisely when the confidence is not total, that we need to muster courage. Proceeding on that thought, courage seems to arise from the intensity of desire or purpose...... the intensity being so high that one is willing to gamble or take the risk.... that brings us to the key supportive condition, namely, the willingness to accept the possible adverse consequences of the courageous step.
To summarize my thought on this, I would say that courage comes from the intensity of a desire or purpose to cover some deficiency in confidence, provided it is intense enough to risk the possible adverse consequence of the courageous step. If the step is taken without considering the possible adverse consequences, then it is not courage, it is rather ignorance or foolhardiness or rank callousness.
Trust this makes sense. Thanks for a great question.

look in the mirror and stare at your self and don't take your eyes off your eyes and if you can't do it you might not have courage. courage comes from knowing you have the power inside you to do any thing you want and not fear the out come. it comes from having confidence and high self esteem, believing in your self and be positive about that belief. you didn't say how old you are and that would have helped us to know more about you and what do you need the courage for. like standing up to some one who is pushing you around or you want to ask a girl or boy out. so you see there is alot different way you can defind courage. and i hope you got something out of my answer good luck in what ever you need the courage for and kudos to you for asking

In my experience courage or being brave have nothing to do with confidence or lack of fear. Brave people are afraid, if they were not it would not be courage it would be stupidity. Fear is a natural response to keep us safe. Courage means you are fearful, but do it anyway. Do you think the brave person who runs back into a burning house to save someone is not afraid on some level, of course they are. They are brave because they do not allow their fear to stop them. Each one of us who face any of our fears & do it anyway are brave, & all people in all walks of life are brave in little ways everyday. If, as a whole, we did not possess courage, mankind would not be where he is today. I like everyone else find courage within by recognizing that yes I am afraid, & then doing it anyway. Thanks !

Personally, when I need to find courage to do something, I think about life from a very different perspective. I'm not sure if I can find the right words for it...but let's just say I think to myself "life is life. nothing more nothing less. you gotta do what you gotta do. my fear is a negative outcome, but the negative outcome isn't as strong as the positive. negativity will not affect me. all i can gain from this is a positive."
in a way i talk myself into it, because at the end of the day we're all just living organisms and nothing more. we live. we die. and the thing we're trying to find courage for is in reality strongly insignificant.

Depends. Often courage is a reflex. Just as often it is a result of peer pressure. Less often its summoned, usually due to a want or need.
I rarely find courage, it just presents itself. Some would say that making a hard, but right choice, is courageous. I just call it decency.

Hi!
Courage comes from wisdom---from making mistakes, falling flat on your face and then rising like the Phoenix as a better and more compassionate human being.
Courage comes from faith ---in your attitude, beliefs and values
Courage comes from hope---- that things cant always be bad. If there are ups there are bound to be downs.
Courage comes from trust---believing in the essential goodness of human beings. Bitter experiences should never
make you sceptical and suspicious. Theres so much of goodness....you need to see it!!!!
Courage comes from being kind, compassionate and sensitive to those who are less fortunate than you.
Courage comes from counting your blessings!
Cheers n chin up:)

Courage comes from confidence. Confidence in what you know, want, and need in life will foster courage.
Fear is the opposite of courage, so take into consideration your fears, then systematically conquer them.
I was terrified of heights until I cliff dove and bungee jumped from 600 feet. While that was not courageous, it helped conquer a fear, which helped foster courage.
Good luck!

courage comes from those that we love and value. if we have something that motivates us, empowers us; something that is worth fighting for then courage will naturally come to us. courage and confidence are two different things. arrogance as well is far from courage.
