Just out of the blue? Here, get out in 60 days, and I don't have to tell you why, or even have a reason?

There was a years lease, but after it became month to month, without the owner issuing any documents to a rental agreement at all.

if it's for lack of cause you need a lawyer to determine whether you have a counter suit .

If there's a lease, the landlord can't kick you out until the lease expires.

If there's no lease, then it's usually minimum 30 days notice. No reason is necessary unless the city is rent-controlled.

It depends on the terms of your lease or rental agreement. Typically, the requirement is a specific time period for notice -- I've never seen a reason required, for either party.

Generally 30 days' notice on a month to month. No reason required.

IN CALIFORNIA IT IS A 60 DAY NOTICE AND IF YOU WERE ON A MONTH TO MONTH AGREEMENT THEY SHOULD LIST A REASON ON THE NOTICE BUT IF THEY DO NOT THEN ALL YOU CAN DO IS ASK THEY DO NOT IHAVE TO BY LAW TELL YOU WHY THEY WANT YOU OUT. IT IS THERE PROPERTY. THAT SUCKS FOR YOU BUT MY ADVISE FOR YOU IS TO FIND SOMWHERE ELSE TO GO QUICK SO IT DOES NOT TURN INTO AN EVICTION, THEN IT WILL BE HARD TO FIND SOMWHERE TO GO.

Apartment buildings can NOT give notices to anyone - only human beings can do that!!!
You can not be given a 60-day notice without a cause!
Call the courts and ask.

All the landlord had to do was give 30 days notice with a month to month (In most jurisdictions). They don't need a reason.

your landlord is being quite generous, on a month to month lease is only has to give you 30 days notice.
i am a landlady and i know.
even if you find out he re-rents to someone else, there
is nothing you can do.
make sure you give him a forwarding address for your security deposit and i suggest you go thru the apt. w/him
then surrender all keys you have.
good luck M.

Yes. You're in a month to month lease, and they gave you sufficient notice.

It really depends on your lease agreement.
