No, it might be illegal if you objected and the doctor did it anyway.

Doctors don't generally need to see a child naked though, unless there is some indication of a problem. Once doctors have established that a child's "parts" are correctly formed and are functioning as normal they stop looking unless the parents or the child hint at a possible infection or injury.

The doctor hasn't seen either of my kids completely naked since they've been out of diapers.

I agree with another poster, sometimes you have to let a doctor do something unpleasant and it's not a bad idea to let your child learn this now. How many people really WANT to have their blood drawn or get a shot? When you are older who WANTS to get a prostate exam or mammogram?

No, of course not. How would you feel if your child had testicular cancer and the Dr.didn't find it because he didn't examine your child's private parts? You would probably sue him for that! Come on, now. Be a parent and explain to your child why the Dr. has to give him a complete examination. You are in charge, not him.

depends where you live, but i'd say that yes, a dr has a responsibility to examine his patitient.....look at the flipside...if next year your son comes down with some type of deadly ailment which could have been caught if dr looked there, will you sue the pants off him???

your son needs to learn that life is full of unpleasant task which just have to get done, this is a good lesson for him to learn.

But the doctor wants to make certain that things are where they are supposed to be.

Is it uncomfortable? Without a doubt, so I would get to the doctor first, as I am sure he has handled this before

It is legal, good parenting , medical procedure and perhaps medical necessity.

You should stay in the room with him so that he doesn't feel afraid.
