I need to build a veranda but Stratco is very pricey even for the DIY kits. Am I better off getting a builder to build it or is their cheaper options on the market?

With all due respect to you certainly; most usual and logical for any consumer of ANY product is to compare; in a shopping process. Certainly it's done all the time when looking for various contractors to perform certain trades work.

We have a DIY stratco carport which we then got someone to put up for us. It is fine, still looks good after 5 years the only problem I have with stratco is that you lose that individuality. We didn't find any cheaper options thats why we went with stratco.

You can save more if you buy a house that is already built and in need of a complete renovation. So long as you can live in it during the renovation so you don't have to pay rent and a mortgage, the savings are increased. Just somethng to think about.
