...when you're at a restaurant and the waiter/waitress comes up and asks if everything's okay. I hate that. Well apparently everything's okay, I'm eating aren't I???

It is annoying, but they have to do it, I guess.

I guess you've never been a server in a restaurant. It's part of their job. I expect it as a customer because even if I'm eating, there may still be something I need (usually extra napkins). If they didn't come by and ask that question, everybody would complain that they weren't checking up on them. I guess some people are never happy. Get over it.

It is annoying especially if you've got a mouthful of food when they ask you! Obviously it's OK or I wouldn't be eating the food. I find it really irritating because I don't like being fussed over and if I'm out with family or friends I don't want to be constantly interrupted by the server. It's one of the reasons I don't eat out that often.

They're just trying to give good service. If you need a refill on a drink or something, you can let them know. The only time I think it's annoying is when they ask that almost every 5 or 6 mintues, which has happened to me before.

As a server, I don't like asking it anymore than you like hearing it. But we get secret shopped and we have to make it back to the table and make sure everything is okay, in 2 min. It is our job! When some servers repeatedly do it, then they are just dumb, but next time just say yes and hopefully they will leave you alone!

one time i can deal with, but after that i get extremely annoyed! i mean... i understand that they want to see if you need anything else, but HELLLOOOOOO we're trying to eat.

next time someone asks you that you should say, "NO! my enchilada tastes like poop on a stick and the rice tastes like maggots... not to mention the fact that my pepsi is flatter than my 4 year old niece."

...i wonder what they'd say...

is not annoying actually..some restaurnt do this for assuring their customers are well served and the food is okay.
If you happen not to like being disturbed when eating..say politely..that everythings fine and no need to worry ..we want to enjoy the food...
Hows that?

It's a courtesy thing that they're trained to say.

Why, would you rather have them come up to you and say:
" Right &#@*!off you've eaten enough fatso!" and then they boot your butt out the door?
