did you know everything that our country has done in the last 40 years has had a military clause in it? We're a country who spends 250 billion a year on military research and 250 million a year on education. No surprise to me.

P.S. - No child left behind is garbage. You'll find out the more you investigate it. It's a cheesy cop-out by the right wingers to appease the ignoramis human rights leaders who call themselves political activists. So instead of privatizing schooling, like Uncle Dubya wants, we penalize schools with sanctions because they cannot keep up to par with these right-wing developed tests. Uncle Bushy doesn't realize that they problem is not the kids and their test taking abilities - it's our fundamental abilites on the federal level to provide these kids social, economic and health-related needs. Little Johnny isn't going to give two chitz about his homework if his ill mother can't afford to get treatment, or his dad left the family and now their lights or off, or worse, they're homeless. The problem isn't the kids. It's the environment that these kids grow up in. The military clause is just another "solution" that these "high-horse" conservatives think will pull the blacks out of the ghetto or the mexicans out of the barrios.

No child left behind as one of the most badly crafted pieces of legislature ever written. Not every family wants on that train. We have a large number of sub-cultures in the USA such as the Amish, a number if Indian tribes and a large umber of people for whom college is not the end all of be all.
Some children are incapable of learning the amount and the way that teachers are mandated in no child left behind. That legislature was aimed at making every child college ready by the minute they finish high school without regard to the wishes of the children involved. It made teachers responsible for the children learning even if the child was incapable of learning. It does not matter if a child has an IQ of 80 rather than 120 they are expected to do equally well on standard tests. People are not cookie cutters and the government should realize this.

You are referring to what is called Federal Impact Aid to schools. It's been around for over forty years. Since Federal facilities, including military bases, are exempt from local property taxes there is a loss of revenue to local school districts. So, the local school district receives federal funds based on the number of children in their schools whose parents are employed by a federal facility, including military bases.

Can you clarify that Linda?

Oh I get it. But Linda, kids were being recruited over the phone over 20 years ago WITHOUT any parental notice or choice to opt out. I got the calls myself. It's nothing new. If anything it gives parents more rights because at least now you can stop them.

Yes, I did, so I told the school that if ANYONE from the military asked to see my child's transcript and school record, that I was to be notified of this.

...if it was up to me ALL would served at least 4 years after high school in the military, just like many other countries do...so that way generations of Americans would know and appreciate our country more, and know first hand what it takes to keep it that way!

What are you trying to say? Sounds to me like you have a misconception of something.

EDIT: Like I thought, you have a misconception. Recruiting is not drafting. Show me where anyone will "lose aid."

ha ha, there is always a catch. How stupid to cheat the military - they are risking their lives for us and get screwed by the country they are defending.
