He wont be eligible to play this year with them. You have to play a certain number of regular season games with a team to be in post season.
I don't think he can sign with a team until after the season is over anyway

Well, he might not be eglible to play with the Chicago Cubs this post season, since you have to be on the roster on September 1st, to be eglible to be on the roster, and even if you are eligble, doesn't mean that they will make the playoff spot. And yes the Chicago Cubs already have big name players already on the roster, that it doesn't look like anytime soon that they won't be.

The Cubs? Oh man. You guys already got your big names. Ramirez, Lee, Soriano, Zambrano, De Rosa, Jones, Marquis, Lilly, and yes, even Lou Pinella. I have an extremely hard time imagining the Cubs making any offseason signs like Andruw Jones. Plus, really, I don't think he'd help them as much as you might think. He's played hurt all year, and his numbers have suffered. This doesn't sound like any other all star player in the Central Division this year does it?........(cough, Rolen...)

Alex stick to hoops please

1) Andruw Jones can't sign elsewhere for the rest of the "year"...well its over actually its the offseason for the braves and its postseason for the Cubs

2) Cubs are not gonna win the world series

3) Cubs won't win the world series with Andruw Jones even if they get him next him and make the playoffs

4) Cubs don't have the money that Jones wants to accomodate him in their roster

Yeah, I don't know if Jones can generate the numbers like he once did. Jones went to the world series with Atlanta a number of times and they came up empty all except one time. The Cubs chemistry, at this juncture shouldn't be fooled with by anyone or anything, even if they could.

He can't sign with a playoff team and play in this year's playoffs. You have to be on the roster before September to be eligible for post season play. They also don't do "sign and trade" in baseball. That is something they do in the NBA for salary cap reasons. MLB doesn't have a salary cap.

Jones won't be able to sign with any team untill after the season ends. He's still under contract with the Braves.

All players on playoff rosters have to have been on the team's roster as of September 1st.
