We are MISUNDERSTOOD! At least some of us are: those of us who DO respect other people, DO value other people's time, and DON'T expect people to wait around for us.

There is something in our brains that doesn't function correctly. We have every intention of being on time. We are not good at estimating how much time each activity will take, we don't plan well, and we also tend to be forgetful...

I have to write appointments in several places in order to remember them, and when I write the time of the appointment I subtract half an hour to allow for my tardiness.

I think it runs in families, certainly in mine.

Well I believe it shows disrespect to all involved.
There's this one guy here at work who is my relief at the end of my shift and he is late nearly everyday and because of that I have to stay late until he arrives. It sucks
Also you should not be late when picking up someone.
But at the same time being a little late to, lets say a party or something isn't so bad

If you can always arrive 5 minutes late then you can always arrive 5 minutes early.

As one of those people who is always running late, I disagree that I don't care about where I am going, that I am trying to sabotage myself, or that I am self-centered (although I might be). I have always been late and always will be, unless it really matters. I too, am running on my own time and will get there when I get there. I also like to see other people running late so I know that there are kindred spirits out there.

I'm always patient with them because you never know why. Anything could be going on in their lives that we don't know about so I always cut them some slack.

When I'm late its always for a good reason so I try and have some empathy for them. Pass on some good will and cheer.

Mousey you are being a bit harsh. I would have expected different from someone who would love to go to Darwin. LOL

Even though it might not be true, it makes those people seem like they're not truly devoted to getting where they need to be... my mom is always late wherever she goes, and it drives me crazy.

Either they're careless or don't have a concept of time. I know someone who five minutes to her is a half hour to the rest of the world. And she honestly thinks it has been five minutes.

They have no respect for other people. A "once in awhile" thing is ok (it happens to everyone at times) but to be late everytime definately shows a lack of responsibility and lack of respect for whoever happens to be waiting for them.
