It isn't but man has believed it virtually since existence. We have been through global warming and cooling many times before and survived. If humanity dies out a another life form will become dominant. We have Geological records where example;

2.5 million years ago a Volcanic eruption in N. America exploded with the force of more than all Nuclear warheads currently existing. It pumped enough gases into the atmosphere on a daily basis to equal 3,000 years of our current emissions output. It killed 90% of all land creature and 80% of all sea life. It caused an Ice Age. Life survived an started to flourish again.

This is one of many that we know of in our planets history and it will happen again and it is beyond our control. Our planet has it's own eqolibrum it can take care of itself. We can't control the planet and frankly we don't have enough knowledge to know the repricussion of trying to control it so we should try it. Do we have an effect on the planet, yes we even accidentally create weather in some cities, but we can't control the planet. Every living organism has an effect on the planet but are not the sole contributor to where the planet goes. You have it's rotation, the moon, the stars, our sun, other planets, our magnetic fields, our planets core, and an infinite number of other variable some we haven't even discovered yet. Globalwarming would happen with or without us. Just a little over a 100 years ago a volcano cause a mini ice age to occur. So can we solve Globalwarming, yes by doing what successful organisms do adapt.

Overpopulation troubles me much more than the planet changing. Technically we will get to a critical point with our population and we will have to have a pandemic to ease the strain, it isn't a question as to whether it will happen it is a question of when. I personally would rather have enjoyed my lifetime and leave the period of suffering to another. We have had them before and they did a good job of brining the population back into check. But man are they horrific. Examples of overpopulation have led to plagues and other such epidemics and it is always tough on the collective psych to have that much suffering. But it is also the natural order and again, life takes care of itself. Again this is something we can't control, so we can't solve it, we just must live through it. I'd rather not but it is going to happen just when is the question. So go green, treat the planet well, an consider adoption rather than having children, whatever but don't do it cause your afraid the world is going to end or humanity is going to die off, do it because it's the responsible and humanitarian thing to do. People have been using fear as a motivator to bring themselves power since humans could communicate. It's time we evolved and become independent from herd mentality, we have great intellectual capacity compared to herd animals and don't really need to be quite as dependant as we are on each other.

The galaxy itself is ending (a collapsing, not expanding universe). Therefore, the "world end" is inevitable.

These problems (Globalwarming and Overpopulation)--like any other--can be solved, but I know not if they WILL be solved. I cannot predict the future...yet.

The world is not coming to an end. Possibly civilization will collapse and we start over again from the stone age. The physical planet earth will only end when the sun becomes a red giant in about 2 billion years. I don't think any of us will be here to have to worry about that.

The magnetic poles reversing may cause the next extinction or it may happen so fast only our compasses will notice. If you are around in 10,000 years let me know.

Yes, we will not survive much longer as a species if we keep breeding and contributing to global warming. I'm not sure if we can change course at this point. People would need to sacrifice having children. This is the #1 way to stop global warming...slow population growth. But chances of people doing this is very slim.

Don't kid yourself.
Overpopulation has a way of controlling itself through famine, didease, and (of course) wars.
And 'Global Warming' (at least, as presented to be man-made by Al 'I invented the Internet' Gore, is a total myth)

The planet will survive very well. The ants and the cockroaches are ready to dominate.

I think spider may have the best concept, but it's a bit to read by yahoo answers standards.
