The 1994 (and 1995) season.

Like so:

* Remainder of season and postseason canceled due to intransigence of ownership in collective bargaining efforts.

The players struck because the owners left them no other options. And, once settled, ownership got very little of what it wanted, so it really was for naught.

And the history of the last ten years of the Montréal Expos.

I don't think that there should be an asterisk on anything. If a player has been proven to be abusing steroids or any other illegal substance during his playing career, then his records should be erased. Remember, innocent until proven guilty. Mark McGuire's home runs should be erased and the other players proven guilty. Bonds is innocent until proven guilty.

I would like to put an asterisk on the entire careers of the following players, who have hall-of-fame numbers, and would not have anywhere close to hall-of-fame numbers if not for steroids: Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro, Ivan Rodriguez, Juan Gonzalez, Luis Gonzalez.
