They fired Ty for a much better result, ND does appear racist.

Yes, Charlie Weiss is the worst Notre Dame coach ever and maybe the worst college football coach ever. He was not even given his huge contract extension for winning with Tyrone's players, he was extended for losing 1 close game to Southern California. I am not a fan of Willingham or black people and even I know Weiss was only hired for his skin color. Here are the top 5 reasons in no particular order that Weiss sucks balls.
1. Weiss is self centered. He spent the whole off season chasing a useless lawsuit against the doctors who performed flab reduction surgery on his fat butt. Weiss lost the suit because the jury found that complications from the surgery were the fault of obnoxious Weiss not listening to his doctors and that the doctors did nothing wrong. The reason Weiss has declared that his team is back in training camp in the middle of the season is that he neglected the real training camps in the off season.
2. Weiss is an ego maniac. Weiss declared when hired that Notre Dame would never lose because the team would have a "decided schematic advantage," due to his coaching genius. Weiss declared after losing to Michigan State 2 years ago that the Spartans would never beat Notre Dame ever again because Weiss would not allow it. Me first guys like Weiss never last as head coaches because you have to listen to be a good head coach and me first guys like Weiss look the silliest when they fail.
3. Weiss is a fraud. His only resume credential was being the offensive coordinator of the Patriots. The Patriots have been better on offense after Weiss left. We all know that the only reason the Patriots offense was any good under Weiss was because of Captain Video Bill Bellicheat.
4. Weiss can not relate to players. Recruiting class rankings mean nothing when every recruit either transfers or does not qualify as has been the case under Weiss. These are all Weiss recruits playing now , despite propoganda to the contrary, and they suck because Weiss has not been able to recruit any good black players and all the white ones have already transfered or failed to qualify. Players view Weiss as a fat clown and a prima donna buffoon just as the fans do (see Darius Walker leaving early to not be drafted).
5. Weiss can not win big games. Notre Dame plays the sisters of charity and mercy every year (Stanford, Duke, service academies, et cetera) because they do not have the nut sack to join a conference, but Weiss has made it an art form. Weiss has not beat a top 25 team as a head coach and has been spanked by every decent team that he has coached against. In undeserved, big money, bowl games Weiss has been completely out coached and out classed by teams with real coaches and players like Ohio State and Louisiana State.

I don't think he's the worst....yet. But he's definitely on the way. And if Clausen starts on Saturday he will surely look like the most arrogant coach in their history. The kid may end up being good but he's not right now. I don't think Weis is doing Clausen any favors letting him get banged up, espeically when there is a backup QB that could probably get the job done.
I find all these ND fans who blame Willingham and the "recruiting staff" for ND's failure now quite hilarious. They blame Willingham but in the same breath bemoan the high number of underclassman on the field. They weren't recruited by Willingham, so how can they be his fault. And "recruiting staff" just cracks me the F up! Shouldn't the COACH be big part of the recruiting staff?
The reality is most new coaches start to feel it is "their team" in their third year. Meaning they've got mostly their own recruits and the guys who aren't have been with them for so long that it doesn't matter they were recruited by someone else because they play in the current coaches system. Weis is in his 3rd year, the time to blame Willingham has passed.
When a new coach takes over a team take over a team, it doesn't matter what they start with, part of good coaching is to making what you've got work until you get your own talent out there. Just ask Joe Tiller, he took a team that was 3-8 the previous season and hadn't been to bowl game in something like 14 years to 9-3 and the Alamo Bowl. Aparently Weis could do that with Willingham's team, so why can't he get his own team to perform?

I hate to say worst "ever" but worst "so far" would be more appropriate looking at Notre Dame's worst start ever.
Hey Stonewall, how long has Weiss been there? I didn't see anyone complain about Willingham's recruiting when they were winning. You're telling me Weiss couldn't go out and recruit players to one of the winningest schools in NCAA history?

No. The Head Coach at (i believe) Washington State, Ty Willingham, was the worst coach in Notre Dame history. And Clawson is a Charlie Weiss recruit. Lets not forget that Clawson is the most highly acclaimed H.S. quarterback recruit since John Elway. Weiss has rings to back up his success, which will in turn get the players there eventually. And I think its pretty quick of you to dump Weiss' stock yet. Give him 4 full years and then judge him. Notre Dame was in the worst position that their football program had ever seen when Weiss took over. He made Brady Quinn a star, and got Jeff Samardzja (sp.) noticed. Give it a few more years before you beg Ty Willingham to come back

i love that when weis was hired he said the irish would have "a decided schematic advantage" over teams they play. i think that someone who was overrated as a off. coordinator built his reputation by video taping signals by the other team. wllingham only got three years so why should weis get more. he was handed brady quinn and still couldnt win a bowl game. they wont beat navy and if the ball bounces right they might have a shot against duke. i cant wait for the usc game.
i dont know if it was racist or just stupid but nd is getting what they deserve for not letting willingham go through a whole recruiting class from start to finish.
jr m : willingham is at washington not washington state and clauson is the next ron powlus.

Plain and simple. Notre Dame does a horrible job recruiting. They focus on recruiting kids when they're really young and at that time are the best in their class. They miss out on a lot of late bloomers by doing this.

If he's not the worst, than probably one of the worst coach in ND history. This guy is overrated as a coach and he probably won't get fire even if he go 0-12 or 3-9, but Ty Willinghams got fired he didn't even get a chance to turn around ND program completely. So i think ND was not being fair to Ty Willingham but they will let Charlie Weis take his time to turn around ND football, so that's so BS. I think ND A.D didn't want to fire Charlie Weis because he just gave him a 10 year $40 million dollars contract and how are you gonna fire somebody after you just sign him to this kind of money.

Capitol Punishment 2011 and WM27 have been the two worst pay per views that I've ever watched. Both were flat out terrible. A complete waste of my time and money. I usually try to find the good in WWE, but man, those PPV's were garbage.

You are completely incorrect.
Weis' recruiting classes are now true freshmen and sophomores and his recruiting classes have been ranked in the top ten in the country every year. They are just too young and inexperienced right now.
Weis won with a few recruits from Willingham's first recruiting class but he has absolutely nothing to work with from Willingham's next two recruiting classes. Notre Dame's third, fourth and fifth year players right now were all recruited by Willingham.
Here are some facts.
1. Some of Weis' key players the last two years were from Willingham's first recruiting class (Smardjiza, Quinn) but none were from subsequent Willingham recruiting classes. Some key players were actually from Bob Davey's recruiting class (McKnight, Fasano, Stovall).
2. Bob Davey was not a great head coach but he was a decent recruiter and at least kept ND in national relevance with respect to recruiting. Willingham's first recruiting class was ranked 12th in the nation by Rivals.com but his second was ranked 32 and his last was ranked 40th in the nation. Those players are the seniors and juniors that Weis is playing with now. Those classes were so weak that many of Weis' freshmen and sophomores are forced to play.
3. Notre Dame has always had highly ranked recruiting classes and Willingham's inability to continue that trend lead to his firing much more so than his coaching.
4. Having said that, however, Quinn and Smardzija were considered busts under Willingham's coaching and emerged under Weis' tutelage.
5. Willingham won his first 8 games at ND which led to him receiving coach of the year honors. Not only did he lose the rest of that season but he never had a winning season again. He finished with one winning season (his first) a record just above .500, three straight final game loses of over 30 point margins and two back-to-back recruiting classes that were ranked among the worst in ND history. Yes he brought 2 or 3 good players in his first year but none followed suit.
6. Weis has had back to back seasons with 10 and 9 wins and has a winning percentage of .760 entering this season. By comparison to Willingham, his recruiting classes (including his incoming 2008 class) have been ranked 8th, 8th and 1st in the nation.
7. This year his first and second year players are his recruits but his third, fourth and fifth year players (supposed to be your biggest contributors) are all Willingham's from his poor recruiting classes. The cupboard is bare and it will take Weis a season or two to bring his young recruits up to speed, particularly on the offensive line.
8. Three games do not a season make and Weis will likely bring this season around to about .500 which is as good as TWO of Willingham's seasons.
Willingham was (and is) a good coach but a fair recruiter at best. If you can't recruit at Notre Dame, you can't recruit. He was a good coach who was fired to make way for a great coach and the next two years will determine if Weis is that great coach or not. You must have the facts and don't back up opinions with facts and numbers. Most importantly, you must understand that Weis is still primarily dealing with Willingham recruits and that is the main reason for his struggles. Weis has had three recruiting classes. Before the '05 season (his first) he recruited players who would play in '06 (now true Sophomores). Before '06 he recruited players who would play in '07 (this year's freshmen) and before '07 he recruited players who won't be on the team until next year. That's how college recruiting works and all of Weis' recruits are current true freshmen and sophomores.

And yet if he was back with the Pats (benefiting from the Moss Brady hookup), he would be an offensive coach in the genius bracket!
