That would depend on their own evolutionary stage...one thing is certain--they are far more techno advanced than we are no matter if they arrive via atmospheric entrance, or use dimensional portals, and if their intentions were to conquer, I doubt they would see us as much of a hardship in doing so.
There have been visitors to our Earth for thousands of years...we reflect a part of their own long ago history. They have even tried to share their technologies, but we were & are much too unevolved mentally to use them for their given intentions, instead, we constantly used them to destroy our own...Egyptians, Atlantians, Mayans were grand examples of this...as we are becoming in our own time...every positive "discovery" turns into weaponry.
The Anasazi tribe were star-born, and stranded here for many many years. They were a very advanced people, had vast knowledge of the solar systems & much of what we know astrologically came from the many maps & writings they left behind, although you won't be reading about that in the credits of your science books, now will you???
Keep an open mind in the next years ahead...Earth humanity will soon place itself in such a state that there will be no choice but to accept "outside" assistance...only then will those that live & visit among us be able to safely come out in the open...we have this thing about capture & dissect everything we don't understand, and sci-fi flicks put alot of fear into the mass consciousness about "alien beings" out to "get" us.
There is duality of good/bad in most of Creation, please trust that there will always be more "good" to over-ride the "bad".

Intelligent, content beings stay home. Those seeking fame and fortune venture out. Aliens from another planet might be looking for food and precious metals.
The most plentiful, well-fed species on Earth is homo sapiens, so expect to be harvested for food.

For Einstein's sake, GET A LIFE.
There are NO aliens visiting us.
It is way too far from anywhere that could support life for any civilization to travel here.
The speed of light CANNOT be reached and with out FTL travel it would take 4,168,570 years to get to Alpha Proximis, accelerating at 1G. And that is accelerating to half way and decelerating the last half of the distance.
to reach even the closest star to us and it doesn't have a planetary system.
You kids watch too much TV without being able to decide what is real and what is fantasy.

The aliens are just here for the beer. It appears they prefer Anheuser-Busch products - which is why most reports of aliens come from North America. Who would have though that space aliens from so many light years away would have such poor taste?

They've been watching all the great Sci-Fi movies and want to get jobs as extras in upcoming movies. Also, they want to hire some of the folks from Star Trek to help them fight the Borg in their Galaxy. And last, but not least, they came to do their laundry! Oh, I almost forgot, they also needed a place to dump their garbage and figured that since we're trashing our planet anyway, that we wouldn't mind.

Well, I know for sure that the aliens probably visit our planet for some sources or materials that they need in order to survive. They would came to research us, they would want our machinery, weapons and our planet. Imagine, you knew that there is a civilization on other planet, you would first find out what interesting and dangerous they have, and then move on...

Hey, I'm still trying to figure out ---"What do women really want?" Maybe a woman would understand an alien's desires better than I. My best guess is that we're just plain-- fun to watch.

I doubt that they would come to attack us at first. I think that aliens would come to us for the same reason we would. They're trying to find other civilizations that are out in the universe. After that though, I don't know if they would start a war or form a pact.
