A lot of third world countries has a bunch of immoral laws as like maltreating women in some muslim countries or chopping off hands when someone commits a robbery ......... so do you think that a more civilized country has the right to step in and change those rules by force to what it will consider moral ....yes or no and why ....and what do you suggest to do about these rules and how to change it ? you may give examples if you'd like.

Thank you for taking time and answering my question.

No I do not think another country has the right to go into another country and change their laws.

George Washington who was the foundng father (first president of the USA) said that we should trade with all and not show favoritism towards any country and not meddle in the affairs of other countries.

So therefore I do not think a more civilized country has the right to go into another country to change the rules of the other country.

That is why the United States is totally out of line for haivng invaded Iraq to try and chnage the laws of the Iraqi government. It was up to the people of Iraq to try and change their country if they wanted to.

It was the worst thing that USA could do. That is why the rest of the world now htes America becasue we interfered with the internal affairs of another country.

While it certainly sounds like a good idea, the problem is that morality is pretty subjective so the 'right' to change other people's laws is a power that can't be given to any single percieved 'civilized' country.

Example: The Vatican is a pretty civilized place, but i imagine they'd loooove to have a "worship God or else" clause in every country's laws.

This is why we have the UN where a pseudo world government notes human rights violations, weighs the subjective quality of the violation and agrees upon some form of action or invervention.

Now, i'm not saying that 'civilized' countries should do nothing without a UN sanction. They're free to lead embargos, add a little political pressure and the like, if they want, but actually changing another country's laws more or less kills that country's sovereignity and sets a bad example for the rest of the world.

If you allow one country to change another's laws, what's to stop that country from changing laws to benefit itself like what the US is doing with the oil trade laws of Iraq? There currently is no such a thing as a civilized country that would not try to benefit itself and it's citizens where it can.

Perhaps first we need a just means of establishing what is moral .What is the world or universal standard ? It seems we have already lost some integrity even in our own attempt to arbitrate morality . those same third world countries sometimes have less crime in other area's like child abuse then the news indicates in our own free world power . When half the country is against killing but war powers established upon the lie of WMD's is above the law a few hands and a low robbery record seem to pale. Our courts are full of cases of mistreatment of women and a very high divorce rate to go along with it . What makes you think your country is any more moral ,your imagination?
One of the highest minor crime rates I've been told in America is the legislative branch called the congress and the senate . We should clean up at home before attacking our neighbors for their shortcomings.

when a child is born, the parent guide him about what is love hate moral immoral where to submit and where to fight.Every thing that is needed better to call it as survival tactics. And once the child mature he is left to love or fight,to tackle problems of the world with his own knowledge and experiences that he has gained over the years.
So also when a country is born the other countries maygive their guidance how to regulate its citizens and how to winover a difficult situation. But cannot all the time force on it,after all a country is group of people wih their own commonalities.what is good or moral or a person may be bad or immoral for another.depends on the situation depend on the culture.Just as you cannot treat all persons in same manner so also the country. An electric shock may be good treatment for a mental patient but not right to be used in every situation.
Country however powerful might be cannot and must not dictate over another country regarding the policies. It should be the duty of UN to become more strong and powerful to guide a country if it is taking a wrong path.

I would not want another country changing the rules of mine. Actually, there is something called WAR. That is when one country invades another and sets up it's own government once that country has lost the war. Unless you are talking about WAR, there is no way to change another country's laws. Agreed, that there are some cruelties going on all over this world, but that's up to the people of that country to deal with..There are civil wars going on in many of our world's countries. The USA even had it's civil war in the 1800s. Everybody should take care of their own internal problems. MYOB in other words..

yes! because in the end it is in the benefit of all countries to have all humanity moved away from primitivity!

it is because the primitivity and brutal state of a lot of the third world countries, still submerged in age old cultural segregation between men and women, submerged in age old primitive religious believes, etc that so much sorrow, poverty and hurt is still around all of us!

and just like an adult would stop a child from doing a primitive and stupid thing, also more socially advance countries have the duty to intervene in more primitive countries and bring them out of their brutality and stupidity..!

in the end it is for the good of all really, since then this world would be a better place..!

p.s. one more thing:

the guy whose picture you have in you personality report, El Che was a bloody murderer, no different than Pinochet, or Stalin...so you may want to look for another idol! Just talk to the people of El Camaguey in Cuba about his attrocities there!

It is the hight of immorality to interfere in a soveriegn country's internal affairs. If you think your country has the best laws, then good for you. But the fact that a country is different from your's doesn't necessarily mean it is wrong/immoral.

No. This would create a mess. Your morals may not be the same as mine. You can't have a country designated as the moral police.

Besides, you have no legal ground in another country.

If we were to adopt these laws - we would have fewer criminals. We're too soft on people here because we do nothing for punishment.
