Actually, I feel the most sane when I'm crawling out of a sweat lodge after a spiritual cleansing.
I also feel very good when I have brought light to a situation that seems dark--when I bring a little light and hope to someone who is feeling hopeless. This is a refreshingly sane feeling. Fortunately, I get to experience this joy on a daily basis in the work that I do (I teach at-risk youth at a Residential Treatment Center).

PC, why do you not feel sane? When did you feel like you lost your day to day feeling of sanity?
I am fortunate. I feel even keeled and sane almost all the time. It is when I am out of kilter that it is unusual. Even when I am being silly and acting wild and crazy in front of my students, I am in pretty much total control but at complete ease at the same time.
I don't know what to say. I am blessed with a good grip on my strengths and limitations, and on the real world. For me, it is part of the gift of being a Witch.
Bright blessings,

I've felt sane for quite a while now. Ever since I moved out of my parents' house. Many, many, many moons ago. I do feel temporarily INsane occasionally, but I find my way back without drugs or alcohol, so I know I'm sane.

SAnity is ALL relative. Believing in a God and the Bible may seem insane to an Atheist whereas, NOT believing in God seems insane to a Christian or a Muslim. So, Ms Crone, you go right ahead and DO what makes YOU feel good about yourself, as long as YOU are comfortable with it then WHY worry about how others will perceive it. No matter WHAT you do, SOMEONE will see it as an act of insanity. Besides we ALL act a tiny bit out of character sometimes and in that light we ALL have our moments of insanity even with respect toourselves.

Sanity is a relative condition. Each day we experience things that can alter our perspective on life. A shift in our world view does not necessarily mean we are losing our grip on sanity or reality. I just allow the experience to settle in and rest where I can contemplate it later when my perspective isn't clouded by the moment.
