It's a pet peeve of mine. I'm glad that there are people like ou out there who think the same way.
P.S. if I was one of those ignorant people you wrote about, my e-mail may have looked something like this:
"yeah those people litterally drive me crazy" I'd have several questions for them, incluing 'Oh really idiot?' 'In what type of car do they drive you?' ' Where do you end up?' ' Why don't you figure out the meaning of the word before you use it so haphazzardly?' The English language is dying a slow death.

That suitcase must have been the smallest apt. in the city. There is one other word that is worse. A word so heinous, overused, and trite that it makes me cringe when I hear people say it...... 'awesome' I heard a middle aged woman say the word four times in four consecutive sentences when describing her new backyard. Let's all agree as English speaking people everywhere to restrict our use of the word to when taking about stuff like the Grand Canyon. .

No, people just use it that way sometimes. What drives me crazy is when they use literally...literally 800 times per sentence. Hehe.

(Literally!)

They're not being used incorrectly - they are just accentuating the emotion behind their statements. Don't take things so literally!

No, I'm usually amazed that they know a word that big to worry about if they are using it properly.
