I have a US model MP530 that I put new ink into. I swapped the old ink chips to the new ink tanks and the printer (or printer driver) still sees the ink tanks as empty.

I'm sure I have to unplug it, hold a button and lift a leg while I turn it on, but does anyone know the TRIED and TRUE method for clearing the ink memory?

A link will give you bonus points.

You might want to download the User's Guide.

I am having problems with my Epson CX5000. Contacted Epson support. Your Canon may work similarly. Was told to turn the printer on - power light should not be blinking - raise the scanner, press ink button for one second until the ink holder moved into position. Remove all ink cartridges. (I sat them on a damp paper towel so the nozzles would not dry out.) Unplug the printer and disconnect USB. Let it sit for at least 5 minutes. This should reset it. Then, turn it back on and follow regular routine to put cartridges back. With luck, it will work. If not, contact Canon help.
