I don't think anyone on the lakers will try and help Kobe
after this summer to win games. lakers are doomed.

Is this a serious question or are you just trolling for Kobe haters? Of course they won't win a title this year, but you know that. Here's a news flash, if Shaq walked out onto the Staples Center court wearing a Lakers' uniform, they still aren't winning a title. In the Western Conference, Shaq + Kobe would still be the Miami Heat, getting bounced by the Utah's and San Antonio's in the 1st round

Folks, Elvis is dead, Tupac is dead, Shaq is... well, his run as Most Dominant Ever is done. Let it go!

Honestly, anything can happen. I hear Coby Karl is really good and Andrew Bynum got something to prove now that Kobe said he doesn't know Bynum is even on the team...

And Chris Mihm is back. He's very underrated. He scored over 20 ppg and 9 rpg for a stretch when the Lakers were without Kobe.

I hope Kobe took his FIBA Americas experience back to LA and values his teammates. Kobe need to understand that he doesn't have to be the number 1 scoring option. If he scores the most, so be it. But remember last season in the first month where Kobe was injured and Lamar Odom was an early MVP candidate and Luke Walton played "Pippen-like" ? Kobe needs to let that and Chris Mihm happen again while he's on the team. And if he plays like he did in FIBA, that will happen and the Lakers would have a good chance to beat the Suns, and when you beat the Suns, you can win it all!

When that happens, Kobe will be MVP! He's my early MVP candidate. Until Kobe proves that he's not playing like he is in FIBA (teamwork), Kobe is my early MVP pick.

Which get me to wonder, why the other Lakers excel without Kobe on the team? LOL.

NO CHANCE. Unless Mitch Kupchak pulls off the trade of the century, Lakers just isn't deep or talented enough to even make the playoffs this year. Just look at all the teams that are ahead of them in the West - San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Utah, Phoenix, Denver, and Golden State. That leaves one spot for Lakers to battle Grizzlies (Gasol is healthy this year and they're playing much better ever since they began playing uptempo ball); Hornets (more experienced and gets much more help with Peja healthy again); Sacremento will always be there; Unless injuries destroys about 4 teams out West, Lakers will be looking at another lottery.

No chances at all as your featured article points out. It points out how Kobe was horrified of the idea that he has won his LAST title at 23... He's now more than desperate to win again to ensure his greatness. But as this Laker team looks they are too far from reaching the end of the tunnel.

Hope this helps.

They are not a title contender. Playoff contender, yes. Potential to upset a higher seeded team in a specific series, yes. Make the finals in a deep west, no.

Outside of Kobe, they do not have the personel to go deep. As far as trade prospects go, there is neither a top of the line player out there to trade for (yes, Jermaine O'Neal is not top of the line) or sufficient assets to acquire someone that is top line (Bynum and who else?).

35%- 55% chance of winning the title... before they reach nba finals, they must battle the likes of nba powerhouse teams like spurs, suns, nuggets, mavs and even rockets, etc
