My bofriend is moving overseas for a few years. How much would it cost for him to store his car. Is there such a thing as car storage? If so, how much? Has anyone experienced this?

Inside storage is about 75-100 a month. If its not a rare or unusual car don't store it. Vehicles don't age well in storage.
Sell it or use it and buy another one when he gets back.

Call some of the local storage businesses in your area. Many will rent units large enough to store a car. It is far better to use your local phone book and telephone and speak to people in your area who would likely rent you a storage unit than to solicit wild guesses from random strangers on the Internet. I would also do these extra items to prepare the car for storage. Fill the fuel tank full. You will get less condensation in the fuel tank. Add the recommended amount of fuel stabilizer to the fuel when you fill the tank. The drive to the storage location will circulate this through the fuel system. You live in an area that has winter. Test the coolant to make sure it is good for the coldest expected temperature. When the car is in storage, at the very least disconnect the battery. Better yet remove the battery and bring it to a location where it could be stored with a float charger connected to it. Float chargers can be relatively inexpensive. As little as $6 when on sale at Harbor Freight. Put a 12 volt air compressor in the trunk. Again, these are cheap. Tires like to go flat when a car is in storage. If you have a 12 volt portable air compressor you can fill the tires to the correct pressure before the car leaves the storage unit. Varmints like to make homes in cars in storage. Dryer sheets work well in the interior and trunk. So does mothballs. Aluminum foil works well in the air filter housing air intake. It also works well in the heater air intake at the base of the windshield. If you use tin foil place a note inside the car to remind you to remove it before starting the engine. I assume this is a nice car. Even in an enclosed storage unit a car cover can be nice. Or you could just run it through an automatic car wash when you take it out of storage. Stay safe while deployed. And thank you for your service.

Car Storage Prices

storage lockers are a bit pricey, for me anyways. i store my car during the winter but luckily my dad has an extra garage bay. i priced some storage places and they were like $50 to $80 per month, and i live in a small town where the cost of living is much lower than a good size city. it could be considered worth the money, the environment inside an enclosed building is the best place to store a car, you wouldn't want to just cover it in the yard or driveway if it's going to be years. you should get quotes from the storage places then look around at building supply stores, you can get small storage buildings for around $1500-$2000, it might be cheaper than paying the storage place, that's if you have a yard or whatever....

It would be possible but I would not recommend it for a couple reasons. First is cost ....Inside heated storage would probably run at least $150 per month. Second is the car would need to be properly prepped for storage. I would suggest either having you drive it on occasion while he is gone if possible or sell it and get something else when he returns.
