Supporting the troops is just a republican party line.
Supporting the troops to their death is more like today's unspoken republican party line. You support the troops by understanding the hardship and danger you're putting them through, not by blindly sending them off to where you want and just telling civilians "they need our support so vote Republican"!

There is no serious candidate for president advocating a complete withdrawal from Iraq. To not support the troops would be treason.

First, I am sorry about your brother. I know I would be hurting too if I lost someone in the war or to any other death. You know, I support and respect our soldiers. I hate to see the way our Viet Nam vets are treated so much of the time and I won't do that to our soldiers. That is why I support our soldiers. They deserve it.

Thank you for sharing your opinion and I sympathize with your great loss. However, our republican leader will continue to send more of your brother's fellow troops into Iraq no matter what. You'll have to live with that.

I think the Iraqis are getting the message that we will be leaving soon! I think they know it is only a matter of time before we leave.
That is why I think Iraqi and American deaths were down 50%!
I think like Americans the Iraqis want our troops to come home soon!
It is about time their police and troops started standing up!!!
Bushs' surge i think had little to do with it!

If we don't support the troops in all that they do then then the terrorist will come over here. The troops are protecting the men, women and children of America or would you rather we let them kill our families in great numbers.

Wow... first of all, sorry to hear about your brother and your loss... but you should be PROUD of what he did and not be sitting here spouting this flawed rhetoric.
1. When a soldier enlists, he or she volunteers to put himself or herself in harm's way... yes, possibly die, for the people of the United States. You dishonour him by making it sound like it was in vain.
2. The war is over? Please... dear... take a really good look at the world around you. The war is nowhere near over. In Afghanistan, the Taliban is trying to regain control. They are telling people not to send their daughters to school or they will murder them. They are trying to regain power and throw us out. They are in league with Al Qaeda. They will provide them safe haven. There will be more attacks at embassies. There will be more attacks in America. I know you're grieving the loss of your brother but you cannot lose sight of what he fought FOR or you do him a grave injustice.
3. There WERE WMDs. This is something liberals have not stopped harping on because they think people will believe them. We know they had them because we SOLD THEM TO THEM in the 1980s. Wake up. They used many of them on the Kurds in Northern Iraq. Read history. They were working on more. When they knew we were going to invade, they shipped them North to Syria and Saddam went into hiding. He figured we'd come, find nothing, and leave... like last time.
We didn't. We got him. Some of those WMDs were sold or given to Hezbollah and used against Israel a year or so ago. Remember that?
Israel just went in and seized some, including nuclear material, from Syria. I wonder where THAT came from???
4. Yes, we got Saddam, but NO there is not a viable Iraqi government in place. Do you not read the newspapers? The insurgency is still more than their meager police force can handle. Al Qaeda is still there. But the PEOPLE of Iraq are starting to tire of it and are rising up against them. We're on the right track.
Bush didn't lose. The only ones who will LOSE this war are the Democrats who want to retreat and leave the people of Iraq to Al Qaeda, the Iranians, and anyone else who wants to take a piece. Why not just give the terrorists a nuke and ask them to attack us with it? Give them training grounds, safe haven and supplies? Give them recruits they can FORCE into service by threatening family members like Saddam used to do.
I am very, very disappointed that someone who had a brother who believed in freedom enough to lay down his life could be so willing to concede defeat and sentence over 100,000 more Americans to death here in the US when they get a dirty bomb in and nuke a city because some moveon.org morons said Bush lost the war and you, in your grief, believed it.
Your brother is a hero and had more honour than Hillary, Harry Reid, Jack Murtha and Nancy Pelosi could muster together! I'm sorry you don't have the same conviction and will to see the truth prevail!

Demeaning our troops, their efforts and those who have lost their lives by bringing them home prior to accomplishing ALL our goals, is not an effort I wish to engage myself in.
I wouldn't want to dishonor anyone's life in such a way.
Permanent bases in Iraq is the best way of showing the world that their lives stood for something and were lost for something.
Those whose agendas don't include that outcome have only themselves to blame for their own short-sightedness.

If they come home now, then those who have died will have died in vain, including your brother. Why not support a good cause, such as getting the drunks off the road? Why do you think 3,000 people being killed over 7 years is more than 50,000 being killed every year?

So, basically, you are saying pull the troops out, let the insurgents take over, turn Iraq into another terrorist haven, and let the sacrifices of your brother and all the troops that have died and been injured be in vain?
