It could be a number of issues affecting your game. You could have background tasks that are affecting it, if you download, it could be a bad file, or simply your computer can't handle the game.

If it's the background tasks that are affecting the game, simply shut down any background taskst that you don't need.

If you recently downloaded a file, or several, go to the Downloads folder, find those files, and delete them. Sometimes a bad custom content file will screw your game up.

And the last one, make sure your computer can handle the game. Sims 2 takes up a lot of memory, and is seriously graphics heavy. Make sure your drivers are up to date. Download new drivers if they aren't. You could also try upgrading your graphics card and the memory.

And of course, if all else fails, just go to the forums on the Sims2 site. There's tons of great information there!

May be that you need to up date your video card and sound drivers. You could try moving your downloads to another folder and try playing your game if it plays without crashing then it is something in your downloads.Sometimes when you download a house from ea ex change or from another site you some times download a mod that you didn't know you downloaded with that house. If you have clean installer you can check for it,by opening clean installer and click downloads and it will scan your downloads folder and you can delete anything highlighted in red.If you don't have clean installer you can get it from Mod The Sims 2.You have to join but it is free.

It might be that you have other applications running in the background and it is affecting the Sims game. Next time you start your game, make sure you have no other applications running.

It could also be that you could've installed it wrong. Try backing up your game saves, uninstall the Sims, re-install the game, reload your game saves, and then try to see if it will give you the same problems.

But, first try to restart you computer to see if that works.

Its the game sweetheart...I'm like the biggest Sims fan and fortunately i have 2 of each. I have the one i play and a back up. I have every game of Sims and it is the game that is messing up. Ive had that problem before and when i cleaned my console and game then it worked like new. If you have anymore Sims questions come and ask me...I know what it feels like to lose a Sims game. I cried before...Im a nerd...Good Luck..
