A comet is a mass of dirty ice, an asteroid is a generally a mass of ferrous matter of various sizes and shapes ranging in size from a large rock to a city sized object. A meteor is an object falling through Earth's atmosphere, it becomes a meteorite when it impacts the Earth's surface.
