Ok, Im on a tennis team and ppl always say they suck and have negative thoughts, while I have positive thoughts, but I end up losing and they end up winning. How can people still be doing their best if they keep saying they're going to lose? I don't get it.
Also jw, what drives you more? When ppl think you suck or when ppl think you're really good?
Just wanna see wat u guys think...

i think when people say they suck they dont really mean it they just want to here u tell them how good they r witch perks them up

I suppose it depends on the situation for me. I do recall working harder at things when people thought I couldn't do certain things. But, I actually enjoy hearing positive statements when I have done something well. I think if you give yourself negative statements you are much more likely to not do as well. Maybe they aren't telling the truth when they say they "suck".

Its a funny thing to do because if you truly believe with your heart this is true you won't even bother to try. But also them may be using it for attention, compliments, or possibly to keep themselves in place. It may make them more determined to prove any doubt they have wrong or just so they don't get over confident. But another thing to look at is they may be preparing themselves for disappointment if they do lose.

it drives me more when people think i suck .. it makes me want to beat them even more... and if you keep losing then just practice more .. and get better...
