I could suggest that you spend 5 times as much money as others here are telling you but if you already have a good monitor and you want to keep your expense low, go for it. This is what was commonly called the Blue & White. You should be able to get it for $200 or less. You could also get a PowerMac G4 Gigabit as shown in the link below for $250. With dual-G4 processors, it would be a huge step up. You might even find one similar on ebay for less than $100. Add a Firewire 800 card for much faster video rendering to an external drive. But you are on a slippery slope and soon you'll have to take a look at a PowerMac G4 Firewire 8oo model at 1GHz, 133 MHz bus, support for both BlueTooth and Airport Extreme... well, there goes the rent money.

The G4 would be your best option, and yes, it'll be awesome for video editing! It will already have some cool programs for video installed from the factory.
I recomend FinalCut Pro for video projects if you are willing to spend the cash on a professional grade editing program.

Maybe
But a G4 or better would definitely work fine

a g4 is better, but an Intel Mac is king for iMovies '08.

the last powerpc , g5 dual processor works well too.

I have a dual g5, my partner has a g4, a no-go for imovie '08.

Yes, that is what they are known for. It is about all they're good for, audio and video editing. Pretty much any visual or auditory editing. Besides that, go for Windows or Linux.
