Depends on how you want to be taking out if you are playing D. Would you want a back just run you over, or should I say "trucked", or would you want a back juked you so hard that your knees buckle.

Barry is the greatest runner ever to play the running back position, but not the greatest running back. Id go with Sayers or Payton. Campbell or Okoye are the scariest though

I agree completely with BeO above - Sanders was the most skilled/talented runner the game has seen - simply electrifying.
But as far as best RB, implying overall, I agree that would go with Payton or Sayers.
Emmitt Smith was great, no doubt. But his numbers are largely a result of his durability and longevity. Being the record holder doesn't necessarily mean you're the greatest. And, as others have said, his Oline was magnificent as well (they also helped overrate T. Aikman a bit, in my opinion).
Sanders was great to watch though!

I agree that Barry had the best moves of a running back. He created things that weren't there.
I agree with Lep. Dallas had one of the best offensive lines ever which contributed greatly to Emitt Smith's success. He didn't get beat up like Earl did.

IRS running Obamacare? Who posted this stuff? Bachmann? That lady is haunted by crazy thoughts on a regular basis but still on the Intelligence Committee. Now that tells us about the intelligence (not) of the GOP.

Gaye Sayers the greatest and i agree Campbell would be a nightmare trying to tackle in his prime before they just over used him and end his career prematurely

Adrian Peterson might be even scarier than Campbell. He has already put no less than 8 defensive backs out of the game!

Nope, it's Emmitt Smith. He holds the record with 18,355 rushing yards. He was also the first player in NFL history with 11 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons and the first to post 11 1,000-yard rushing seasons in a career.
