I own a shop, and do restoration work. I have six vehicles right now that are in the different stages of being restored. I would think it depends on what the car is. A "65" Stang could be worth more done back to its orginal state, IF the car has qualities that are rare. The TV show leads us to believe they do a top quality job on these vehicles, and they may, but I would have to see one to base an opinion. Which would be worth more, a Chip Foose vehicle, or a Jack Rouse vehicle? Naturally one would think a Foose one would be, but what about when the vehicle has 20 more years on it. Foose likes to change things, and I'm not convinced that will add to the value of the vehicle down the road. Since the Stang is a uni-body vehicle, the Foose crew would do a good job, but I just wonder if they cut corners? Since they are always working against a deadline, anyone knows a big dab of body filler is faster than replacing the metal. We don't know what they do to them, but done ourself, we know for sure what it is. My vote would have to be with Chip, but for some reason I would always wonder if they really did the job as you see on TV, or did you see the magic of TV? Watching the Barrett Jackson show, I see some Foose vehicles, and they do seem to bring good money, but I haven't seen one they done bring the most money. For what ever reason, it always seems the one's that are as they came from the factory brings the most money. Ask yourself this; Would a numbers matching engine in the car, make it worth more than a crate engine installed by the Foose team? Stock, factory, as is, vehicles bring more at auction, and thats just a fact.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Generally restoring a car to like when it left the factory originally including the correct paint for that carand matching parts numbers usually are the more desired car at auctions and bring the most money. Thats' not to say modified cars can't bring good money as it depends on the buyer and in that case a modified car that a celebrity had would only add more value. But if you are looking for a return on your car it would be best to stick to like factory condition. Even at that you may get less than what you put into it, your 1965 Mustang brings high value on the auction block if done correctly,I've seen some go for $80K-90K on the auction block.

the over haulin cars are worth more ,because they do a better job on doing one, they can though because they have a lot more man power than the average person has to spend on a car, they have a very large crew working on their cars, the average individual wont get to do as good of a job as they will,i know i have restored a few nice ones before,it take the average individual about 4-5 thousand man hours to do one right, and that's a large piece of your life going in to a car, most people get really aggravated with one right at the end of it,on the show they do it right from the time they start it until they end it,and they have the man power to do it with, good luck on it.

Leave this 65 mustang stock original more valuable that way.
If its a fastback don't mess with a custom job leave it factory stock.
