for my high school class i need a song that would be similar to the mood of The Cask Of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe. im looking for a dark song, sort like evil or about death.

phantom of the operah is not allowed. (darn)

(since the mood changes alot, a song that changes from happy to sad would be great too)

"The Widow" by Mars Volta is sinister and haunting, in my opinion.
"Le Coucou" by Daquin would be very good for "The Cask of Amontillado."
Ooh, and anything on the Titanic soundtrack [the darker bits, at least] are perfect for that sort of thing.

I alwasy thought something from the Baroque era would go well with that story. If looking for something a little more pop -- "Funeral for a Friend" by Elton John might do as well. Perhaps also "le Symphonie Fantastique" by Berlioz.

"Don't Fear the Reaper," Blue Oyster Cult
"Oh Death," Ralph Stanley (a lot of bluegrass has a death theme)
"Shankill Butchers," The Decemberists
