the mass is concentrated in the nucleus. Rutherford did an experiment on this and discovered that most of the atom is space because when he shot particles at the atom, most particles went through.

The Nucleus contains the Protons and Neutrons each having the same mass.
The Electrons are orbiting outside of the Nucleus and, an electron only has 1/1840th of the mass of a proton. The electrons of an atom are considered to be negligible.
The Nucleus contains the greater part of an Atom's mass.

Most of the mass of an atom is in the nucleus because thats where the protons and neutrons are packed together densely and outside of the atom is mostly empty space except for the electrons around the nucleus.

In the nucleus. Nearly all of the mass of the atom is from protons and neutrons, which are in the nucleus. The electrons have virtually no mass, and orbit the nucleus in the electron cloud, and are therefore responsible for the size of the atom (the electron cloud is MUCH larger than the nucleus).

So electrons are responsible for volume and size, and protons and neutrons (which make up the nucleus) account for nearly all of the mass

most mass of an atom lies in the nucleus. the nucleus contains protons and neutrons . both of them have mass of 1 a.m.u. however outside of the nucleus contains electrons which are extremely light with a mass of 1/1840 a.m.u.

The nucleus consists of the protons and neutrons and the outer shell is made of electrons. The nucleus is much more massive.
