OK, just for the record, I think miss ellie knows her plums and it is possible she could have been using the common vernacular of the better educated in our part of the country. Plum can be, well, a fruit, but also a perfectly good word meaning "completely" as in "I'm plum tuckered out" or "I'm plum crazy 'bout that gal". As for Fran, she had a pretty eye and moved in a wide circle. peace
