(x + 1) ² + (y - 3) ² = 36
(x + 1) ² + 9 = 36
(x + 1) ² = 27
(x + 1) = ± 3√3
x = - 1 ± 3√3
Points are (-1 + 3√3 , 0) , (- 1 - 3√3 , 0)

It helps if you plot (-1,3). The next step is to sketch in two lines that originate at (-1,3), are equal in length, and terminate on the x-axis, one to the left of (0,0) and the other to the right of (0,0).
With this sketch, we can see right triangles. One side
is 3 units, the hypotenuse is 6 units, so the other side is the square root of( 6^2-3^2), =rt(36-9), =3rt3.
The two points are (-1-3rt3 ,0) , (-1+3rt3, 0)
