Britney Spears' carreer has taken a complete downtownurn. Once an American icon -- now a defeated, humiliated American woman.

When she first arrived, she was a pop icon. It had gone from success after success, to defeat after defeat.

How can she endure so much stress? The divorce, the weight gain, her degradation of her looks, the public humiliation of her not wearing underwear and her privates being exposed to photographs for the world to see, her shaving her hair, her drug abuse, her being slammed in the media as being an unfit mother...

when you thought it couldn't get any worse, she loses custody of her kids to the father AND she is due in court for a hit & run and will possibly face jail time.

Is there a possibility this thoroughly defeated and beaten-down American icon may commit suicide? That's way too much stress anyone should take all at once. How will she snap?

I fully expect to hear about her sky-high therapy bills within the month. My parents and I are convinced that she has definite problems.

A few weeks ago, there was a question on this forum that asked the difference between a girl and woman....and I think that it applies perfectly here. A woman is a female who is mature and takes responsibility for herself and her actions, while a girl is a female who has yet to learn about responsibility and respect for oneself. And that, in a nutshell, is Brittney Spears....a very immature and self absorbed GIRL.

As for commiting suicide? Not a chance. This girl, regardless of her failures and missteps, has not learned any lessons, and is not taking responsibility for any of them. Apparently, life is still just a party, and perhaps not being burdened with children will allow her to 'party on'. Many seem bent on painting her as a victim...the poor little girl who got thrust into the limelight too early and got exposed to too much, too quickly. But the reality is that this girl figured out how to trade on her looks and dancing ability, with absolutely no singing talent, and made the most of it. She has more advantages than so many deserving and responsible young women, and she has yet to recognize and appreciate that.

Let her be a lesson to others who think that the world revolves around them and their beauty...

No. She is a reckless and stubborn child. She seems to refuse to grow up, no matter how much her children need her to. She lives under impression that life is a party, that is where all of her problems come from.

We can't blame media for all of her troubles, either. It was her choice to become a celebrity. That gave media a license to follow her around. Media is making sure we still remember who Britney Spears is after all these years. So there is absolutely nothing to complain about here.

We all know that to survive in this life we have to work. To keep a job you have to work extra hard: make sure that you do your very best every day. In entertainment business that means to look and perform to your very best ability no matter what is happening in your personal life. She is simply not doing her job, which shows a lack of character to me. Her life could not be harder than millions of other mothers in the world, because she has constant help. I do not know why it is so hard for her to understand what it means to be a mother. She refuses to put her children's needs first. Either she had them too early in her life, or she is one of these infantile creatures that never grow up... Her problems are direct result of inability to take responsibility for her own actions. I can not feel sorry for a person like that.

This is what can happen to young performers if they are pushed into entertainment careers by their parents. From the time she was a little girl, Britney's mother had her taking singing and dancing lessons. Her mother was constantly taking her out of school to go on auditions and they frequently traveled to New York City to audtion for Broadway shows. This young woman was groomed to become an entertainer, whether she wanted it or not.

Defeated? It was a temporary order- being it can be changed at any time. I think it was good thing.

Monday night she checked into a luxe hotel, Tuesday finally got her dirvers license, and did her drug test. The hearing is tomorrow.

Those babies need their mom.

She doesn't have common sense enough to know when to do the right thing. She's determined to live a reckless life too bad for her children to have to go through all of her nonsense.

You sound positively gleeful. Do you think it's the beginning of a trend? Today one defeated American woman, tomorrow two, and then four, and . . . .

You are so shallow and vapid.

You seem to really enjoy the misfortune of others.

Troll.

Someone else posted a question about her recently...I wonder if that's a coincidence? Hmmmm....I doubt it.

I think she has already snapped. I think she is distraught, but it is not the end of the world. I think that she is still so young that she can come back

Oh puleease...she is a product of her own decisions she's chased off every one around her who had any common sense, and ultimately, she's a young, immature girl who's been spoiled rotten....by fame, money and success.
